Spring Into Spring 2011 (And Support Your Local Etsians)

It's been a while since I've had time to write on this contraption, but here I am again... Blankly staring at the screen, wondering of what I can write to intrigue you all to stick around and read on.  I've got it! I know you're dying to check out my newest treasury of Etsy Art that will put a new spring in your step for 2011!

I've been woodburning so much lately that I actually broke the tip off of my tool! After taking a small vacation from selling/surfing online after the holiday season, I decided a few weeks back to get myself back in to the crafting swing of things.  I spent a few hours relisting my items on etsy.com,  and then I was able to finally dig my teeth back into my pyrography.

Visit BSC on Etsy!
Check out my new items!!

This year's crafting goal is to keep things simple, yet focus on what the general public may be looking for. I have noticed that you can spend hours upon hours creating a beautiful piece of art, but the price can't reflect the true value of the art piece due to competition and expectations.  People in today's economy are looking for the biggest "Bang" for their buck and convenience.  I've tried to accomodate those two consumer needs when pricing things in my store, but I don't want to sell my time and art's value short.  I offer custom ordering on all items, and also have a shipping special going on now (BSCLUCKYSHIPPING coupon code at my store's checkout).  When it comes to convenience, I usually have my items packaged and shipped within 12 hours of cleared payment.  This allows my customer to get their prized package ahead of their expected arrival time, leaving them happy, making me extremely happy!  So what are you waiting for?  Hop on over to my store quickly to check out all my new items...

And lastly, a new venture I am exploring is Google Analytics and Adwords.  I received a sweet deal via snail mail, and this gift was addressed to your's truly in the colorful Google envelope.  Inside, I was offered $100 free advertising on Adwords.  I actually felt overwhelmed with marketing happiness for a glimpse of a second, thinking this might be my first opportunity to get the word out about BSC.

Logging on to the Adwords website is very friendly (Thanks Google), and after designing my first advertisement I could not wait to see the exposure it would get my shop.  I ran my online add per click as often as I could, and once the data began to flow in, I was amazed at how many clicks my items received!  Results may vary, but I can't recommend this marketing product enough to those of you looking to get some great publicity for your small business!  What are you waiting for...?  Google it!!

So, that should sum up the last few months here at Burning Soul Creations.  I'm looking forward to the great things 2011 will bring for my small business.  Short-term, my goals for this year include improving my exposure with other crafters and Etsians online by building relationships through networking .  By the end of this year, I hope to register for my sellers permit and complete my first craftshow/flea market.

Best of luck to all of you out there reading this, and Don't give up on your dreams.. not matter how big or small they may be!

Sincerely,
Caitlin

Saturday With A Smile

Today was much like alot of other Saturdays.... The first thing on my mind is to RELAX, but 16 hours later, I'm finally getting to do just that.  I woke up early this morning and drank a beautifully crafted cup of joe that my husband prepared so lovingly for me.  As I write this, my mouth is watering for a refill (complete with caffeine jolt).

I have been preoccupied with numerous different things this week (pretty much this whole month)... so I finally had a chance to reconnect with my Etsy account.  I opened up my Saturday with a nice early morning chat on Etsy.  It's always nice to make some new friends and network with people that are trying to accomplish the very same thing you are.

I then decided to motivate myself up and out of my recliner. I quickly got dressed and proceeded to work for the day. I enjoy the time I get to spend at the auto shop without customers and co-workers around to interrupt my ritual cleaning routine.  Three hours, a bottle of toilet cleaner, two rolls of paper toweling, and one bucket of mop water later... the shop is back to tip-top shape, and I am ready to take on another Monday--head on with no worries.

I not only put in overtime at work this week, but I also managed to check off another miscellaneous item on my "To Do" list.  I created a wonderful draft for my best friend's gorgeous little red-headed firecracker-of-a daughter's birthday present.... A miniature stepping stool with her name burnt on the top, complete with a border of ivy, flowers, and accented with a butterfly.  After I accomplished everything I needed to at work, I drove frantically to Hobby Lobby to take full advantage of my 40% Off coupon (Why doesn't every company give a customer incentive like this?).  I am quite proud to say, I brought the stool home and worked vigorously to prepare it for the Big Burn!  I am finally ready to create another one-of-a-kind piece of art.  The best part of it all-- This stool will be a part of my friend's daughter's life for many years to come....

All in all, today was a wonderful little Saturday.
